The Route 66 Centennial Caravan stops in Chicago, Illinois Thursday June 25.
GoRoute66 and The Big Texan Steak Ranch partnered with the Route 66 Association of Illinois, Harry Caray’s Tavern Navy Pier and the Chicago Navy Pier to bring a steak eating contest to Chicago as part of the celebration of the official Centennial Route 66 Caravan on the road. The Caravan, Big Texan Steak Ranch and GoRoute66 were on The Chicago Navy Pier outside Harry Caray’s Tavern Navy Pier. The events for the finale’ began at 1p with 2 professional eaters, a Caravan representative " Big Mike" and a regional contestant all going at the 72 oz. Steak Challenge from The Big Texan Steak Ranch. Three of the competitors finished under an hour. You can watch the competition and all the interviews during the event below.

The Route66 Caravan has traveled across the Country from Santa Monica to Chicago making multiple stops each day to see, shop and eat at Route 66 historical locations and current vibrant shops all embracing the Route 66 Nostalgia in its own way.
The caravan has 15 official cars and 40 additional cars traveling from Santa Monica to Chicago.
Each evening along the way, the cities and Route 66 associations have coordinated a streak eating competition.
City officials, celebrities, NFL players and even surprise competitive eaters have shown up so far.
